Docklands in Melbourne is an odd place. During the weekdays, it's a hype of activity with office workers. But on the weekend, the streets are deserted and there's hardly a soul to be seen. There are so many apartment blocks, a result of the urban development and gentrifying of the old docks. These buildings create wind tunnels and cast shadows over once sunny streets. Whilst you get the incredible water and city views from a lot of the apartments, I cannot help but think that most of these places are rather soulless. There are some redeeming architectural marvels though such as the Library at the Dock. A destination alone worth going for. Located alongside the pier, the space is inviting and there's no better place to while the time away. These photos were taken on a Saturday morning.
